“In a statement on January 2, 2025 a spokesperson for Cumann Tomás Ó hAirt, Sinn Féin Poblachtach, Ard Mhacha Thuaidh, said: “The British regime in Stormont needs to have a hard look at what is being promoted as a ‘positive policing strategy’ for the Occupied Six Counties.
“According to the Irish News, a cash-strapped RUC/PSNI has paid out a ‘significant’ five-figure sum to a number of nationalists and republicans whom they subjected to unlawful stop and search operations.
“The RUC/PSNI are a ‘gift that keeps on giving’! They are like Father Christmas every day. In the Occupied Six Counties, they have demonstrated an inability to remove their colonial attitudes and are rightly being punished for it.
“The use of stop and search powers by the RUC/PSNI in the Six Counties has always been controversial. Sinn Féin Poblachtach will continue to publicly ask question why is it that the nationalist community is disproportionally targeted?”
