RUC harassment intensifies against Republican Sinn Féin members

On Saturday, September 1, a member of Republican Sinn Féin in Tyrone was assaulted and arrested during another in a long line of stop and search operations. He has now been released but must appear in court on September 25 on charges of disorderly behavior, resisting police and assault on police.

Edward Costello Memorial, Lurgan

The Thomas Harte Cumann are planning to build a monument in honour of Volunteer Edward Costello in North Lurgan.  He joined the Irish Citizen Army in 1915.

He took part in the Easter Rising in April 1916, and received a fatal bullet wound to the head on the 25th of April, dying later in Jarvis Street Hospital.  He was aged 27 years.  He was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery on the 1st May 1916.  His grave is in the St, Paul’s section, DC ...
