On behalf of Cumann Tómas Ó’hAirt, Ard Mhacha Thuaidh, Sinn Féin Poblachtach, we would like to thank our membership and supporters for joining us today at our Easter commemoration marking the 110th anniversary of the Easter Rising.
We condemn the heavy handed tactics of the RUC/PSNI, who in anticipation of our dignified commemoration closed off all roads in and out of the Kilwilkie Estate, carrying out licence checks and stopping and searching a large number of vehicles. This has not deterred us in the past, nor did it deter us today. We will continue to commemorate our patriot dead in whatever manner we see fit.
