Republican Sinn Fein condemn the extradition of Lurgan man Martin McCauley by the 26-County State to the Occupied Six Counties.

In a statement on January 30, 2025 a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “We strongly condemn the extradition of Lurgan man Martin McCauley by the 26-County State to the Occupied Six Counties.

Martin McCauley was arrested back in August 2024 by the Free State police at the behest of the RUC/PSNI on a British extradition warrant. The 26-County State has long collaborated with the British occupation of the Six Counties, particularly by extraditing Irish citizens for political purposes.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach has always opposed political extradition and we call for the immediate release of Martin McCauley. We also call for an end to the criminalisation of Irish Republicans and extradition to so-called British justice.
