In a statement on June 05, 2025 a spokesperson for Cumann Tomás Ó hAirt, Sinn Féin Poblachtach, Ard Mhacha Thuaidh: “The time has come to see through the lies of our smiling oppressors. It is no longer acceptable to merely stand among the ruins, without hope, and awaiting a future lacking prosperity’.

“We have taken inspiration from our leaders of 1916. This includes James Connolly who was born 157 years ago and remembered for his lifelong teachings. We recall his final words, written in a letter to the General Court Martial, held at Dublin Castle, on May 9, 1916: He stated that, ‘We went out to break the connection between this country (Ireland) and the British Empire, and to establish an Irish Republic’.

“Sinn Féin Poblachtach holds that nothing has changed in respect to the Republican ideology associated with Connolly’s inspiring words and such patriotic deeds. It may have long since passed, but we have commemorated the 109th anniversary of the 1916 Rising and continue to reaffirm our allegiance to the 32-County All-Ireland Republic.

“Today’s world alliance of liberal elite have positioned their lackeys amongst the Irish political class. These people have been conditioned to espouse liberalism, as it rejects the Republican ideological struggle and stands for unprincipled peace. Up to this point its alliance has reflected an entrenched and intertwined culture of decadence and philistinism.

“In Occupied Ireland the liberal elite through their lackeys have created an intersection between constitutional nationalism and a cultural class war. This methodology serves the purpose of liberalism, which is to blindside the Irish people into supporting a political strategy of engaging within the British system to destroy it. And therefore, it is being peddled as exercising their right to self-determination and constitutional reform to reflect national identity and cultural interests.

“Sinn Féin Poblachtach says we should not forget James Connolly’s quote: ‘Yes, ruling by fooling, is a great British art with great Irish fools to practice on.’

“This quote highlights Connolly’s critique of British rule in Ireland. He points out that the British government manipulates and deceives the Irish people to maintain control. In the context of his writings, Connolly was criticising the Home Rule Bill and the British government’s tactics to undermine Irish nationalism.

“Regardless of whatever fodder is thrown at the Irish people by pro-British lickspittles, we shall never be convinced that the Republican struggle should ever include entering into the partitionist parliaments imposed by England in 1921.

“We also believe that the call to which Connolly talks about in his last words before his execution: ‘We then (Easter 1916) issued to the people of Ireland, was a nobler call, in a holier cause, than any call issued to them during this war, having any connection with the war.’

“He goes onto say, ‘We succeeded in proving that Irishmen are ready to die endeavouring to win for Ireland those national rights which the British Government has been asking them to die to win for Belgium.’

“Sinn Féin Poblachtach reiterates a poignant message from Connolly to the General Court Martial of 1916: ‘Finally, as long as that remains the case, the cause of Irish freedom is safe.’ We ask that you get onboard with or continue the great work of Ó Brádaigh, Ó Conaill, Pearse, Connolly and Tone.”
