In a statement on May 21, 2025, a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “In recent weeks the RUC/PSNI has carried out a sustained campaign of intimidation towards our members in Derry city.
“One member in particular had been stopped under British terror laws in excess of nine times as well as being followed but not being detained. He also says that this campaign is sustained and deliberate, causing untold disruption to his private and family life.
“He states that the efforts of the British colonial police force will not deter him from pursuing his right to express a political viewpoint, nor to continue with his livelihood, unhindered by the RUC/PSNI.
“He says that in recent days he returned from a European city break and was detained under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 at Co Antrim’s International airport.
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns these draconian British laws, which are being used to bully and harass Republicans in Occupied Ireland. We support all our members and their right to go about daily without obstruction from the British Crown Forces, whether it be under the guise of the RUC/PSNI or M15.”
